Refurbishment at the Bennion centre, Glenfield Hospital
The Bennion centre based at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester wanted to improve the washrooms within the Welford Ward. The centre caters for patients with functional illnesses. They work closely with community intensive teams, mental health teams and outreach services for older people with functional and organic mental health problems.
Working with Tilbury Douglas who are the main contractors based at Glenfield hospital and High cross building services on the refurbishment, KWC DVS provided products to ensure the units provided were the best level of safety for the patients.
Adam Dagley from Tilbury Douglas and Mark Taylor from High cross building services "We both work with KWC DVS regularly and can always trust the team to provide us with quality products. We are looking forward to working with them again on future projects."
KWC DVS products provided were:
- 2 x VR07-004 Standard washroom control system kit
- 2 x VR01-035 Disabled High security WC pan
- 2 x WC02-014 Concealed plastic cistern kit
- 2 x VR01-030 High security basin with integrated backplate
- 6 x AC17-047 Thermostatic mixing valve 4in1
- 2 x SH07-020 Bath control system
- 2 x VR01-111 Safe Ensuite Bath Filling Module
- 4 x VR00-080 Wave-on sensors - Bath filling module
- 2 x AC17-101 Anti-Microbial valve
- 2 x F0360P Rodan single bowl single left-hand drainer inset sinks
- 4 x AT07-056 Anti-ligature basin spout
- 2 x AT07-013 Tap control system

The safe ensuite range is intended for the toughest, high-security and ligature-resistant environments. The range is impact resistant and virtually unbreakable, creating a secure solution within all mental health facilities.
The sanitaryware, basins and accessories are manufactured from GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) (glass – reinforced polyester), which is cost-effective, vandal-resistant, and completely shatterproof. Complete with a high-grade polyester gel coat finish. GRP provides a more domestic and familiar feel to the room, creating a more therapeutic environment for those requiring an inpatient stay.
Following on from the Welford ward refurbishment, we are now planning with Mark Taylor from High cross building services for the subsequent two phases of the Langley and Kirby ward, which will be a new build extension to the existing wards.
