Saving water in commercial washrooms using Aquari-Save
Importance of saving water in commercial washrooms
The effects of COVID-19 are still felt across the globe, with high volumes of water consumption being one of the many consequences of the pandemic. With energy bills and water demands at an all-time high, water-saving is more critical than ever. It is in the nation's interest to discover ways in which we can conserve water in everyday life. As a designer, architect or engineer, designs must meet the client's needs and be water and energy efficient.
Washrooms can say a lot about a business's health and hygiene habits. How your washroom is designed can indicate your brand values, so it doesn't matter if customers are in the reception, restaurant or washroom. Your company should take advantage of every opportunity to showcase your brand. Choosing water-saving products will demonstrate to customers that you engage in environmentally friendly practices.
In Britain, water usage rises to nearly 840 billion litres every year, and on average, each individual uses about 142 litres of water daily. It's integral that we become more aware of our water usage and invest in products that can help us become more responsible about the amount we use. Innovations in building design are making great counterstrike’s in saving water and energy. With this advanced technology, we can take steps towards reducing these figures.
Water-saving example
An Aquari-Save offers significant water-saving potential over an auto-siphon system for urinal flushing due to the programming capabilities of the valve. The Aquari-Save can be programmed on individual days, which allows the opening and closing times of a building to be taken into consideration. Paired with the number and length of operations you wish to implement throughout the day can provide substantial water savings.
A standard 9L cistern with an auto-siphon that operates every 15 minutes and 36L of water an hour is used for flushing urinals. Utilising the programmable capabilities of an Aquari-Save, installed directly to the valve that feeds the cistern, you can program a flush every 30 minutes or even every 60 minutes if required, which can half or even cut your water usage by three-quarters. Because the Aquari-Save will only release water through the valve when programmed, the constant 24-hour fill/flush cycle commonly associated with auto-siphon setups is avoided, resulting in a reduction in water usage if the same 15-minute flush is required.
