Tesco Case Study

DVS continue to assist in reducing national supermarkets water consumption
Throughout many years, Dart Valley Systems continue to improve washroom facilities and assist in saving water and money across Tesco stores nationwide.
Tesco Southbury Road, Enfield was highlighted to be surveyed to find out how much water was being consumed and if any savings could be made.
A site survey was completed and detailed recordings made.
It was clear that savings could be made at this store by fitting DVS products.
During the survey, it was recognised that savings could be made on push taps and WC flushing. Urinals already had controls fitted.
Taps
The push taps installed in the washrooms were running longer than required. DVS recommended automatic taps as the lifetime is longer and potentially, up to 30% savings can be made. Even though flow rates may be similar, automatic taps will only run when they are detecting hands. See table below detailing estimated savings at this store when using automatic taps.
